Dear Sir;
I would like to tell you of my experience with your product. I first came to know your product in 1964. 1 had just been discharged from the US Navy, and bought my first shotgun, a Browning over & under 20 gauge with skeet chokes. Being fresh out of the Navy I had no cleaning equipment for this gun. The dealer had several brands available to choose from. For no reason, I luckily selected to purchase your Nitro solvent and refill system, I followed the instructions and cleaned the gun with your nitro solvent. I also placed one of your 2 ounce containers in a spray bottle. I sprayed every internal part of my new shotgun and wiped any excess off with the system applicator rag. I placed the solvent on the wood parts of the gun giving it a waxy feeling. After cleaning, I placed the gun in the closet.
But, first chance a friend and I got, I took the new gun target shooting. After returning, I placed the gun back in the hall closet where it stayed until the opening day of duck season, approximately three months. The magic time finally arrived. We loaded the equipment in the boat and headed for the Delaware River. We planned to launch from Augustine Beach and run down to Port Penn. We had hunted this area many times before with good luck. My old friend continued to hunt this area during my Navy time.
Opening day was clear, warm and sunny. It was the best day for a picnic, but the worst for shooting ducks. The birds were flying five miles high, leaving us with nothing to do but relax, have lunch, and enjoy the scenery. The tide was much higher than usual, bringing the water to the bottom of the blind. The river was very calm, so it wasn't a problem.
Danny and I started to eat lunch, standing the guns to the right and left sides of the blind. Shortly into lunch, the blind shook and then rocked fiercely, causing things to fall. The next shake caused the blind to flipped over, sending my dog, guns, equipment, lunches and us into the river. The wake from a large cargo ship heading up the Delaware caused the blind to turn over. The tide being so high, allowed the large wake to come up over the jetty and hit the blind like a Mack truck. Danny and I immediately started to try to find the guns. I was in a panic looking for my new Browning. After about 15 minutes, I felt the gun with my foot. The water was about waist deep so I took a breath and went under to try to grab my gun. Danny had already found his jammed in the corner of the blind. It took me two attempts to retrieve my Browning that had gone straight to the bottom.
Danny was hunting with a Remington 870 using a different type of gun solvent and I think he also used a light oil for protection. I finally got my gun out of the water and tried to dry it up. I used towels from the seat of the boat to wipe the saltwater and mud from the guns. After cleaning the guns, we started to pick up decoys and head for home. This first day had turned in to a real disaster. I was very concerned about my gun since Danny's had already started to form a rust film. I checked my gun and found no rust. It still had a waxy feeling.
I talked with Danny at work the following week and he told me that by the time he got home, his gun was in terrible condition. I told him that my gun never had a rust mark on it. When I took it apart, the inside still had beaded water. The Rusteprufe Solvent protected the metal on the gun. He stopped over later that week to look at the gun. He was shocked to see that the gun had no rust inside or out. After looking at my Browning he became a new customer of your product.
It is now 2001 and I still use your product on every gun I own. I now have a gun shop and use it on every gun in my shop. I know that I have no worries about moisture from customers handling the guns. Your product has protected my guns, my father's guns, my son's and now my customer's guns. I use it on the most expensive to the least expensive, knowing they are totally protected from moisture. Let me thank you for your product and for protecting my guns for the last 37 YEARS, IT'S A GREAT PRODUCT!
Sincerely,
R. L. D
